Join for a pre-service class on two spiritual disciplines, lectio divina and the Examen, two time-tested practices which are especially fitting for the Lenten season. Lectio divina, or "holy reading," involves a slow, prayerful, and contemplative reading of a (usually brief) passage of Scripture, with careful attention paid to words and phrases in the passage and to the way that the Spirit is speaking to you through the passage. The Examen is a way of prayerfully reflecting on the events of the day, noticing where you sensed that you were moving towards God (consolation) and where it felt like you were moving away from God (desolation).
