PARISH COUNCIL

Parish Council is a team of men and women lay members who meet monthly with our Rector to oversee the life and health of this community. They are a dedicated group that pray for this community and bring various skills, gifts, and experience to the leadership of the church. They do all kinds of things behind the scenes to facilitate the ministry of Church of the Cross. The Parish Council provides accountability and support for our clergy and represents the congregation to them. They also supervise church property, have financial oversight over the church, and serve as the stewards of its resources. More information about Parish Council responsibilities, composition, and meetings can be found in our by-laws.

The Senior Warden, also known as the Rector's Warden, supports the Rector as a consultant and advisor and represents the Rector to the congregation. They meet regularly with the Rector to review the life and work of the congregation, set Parish Council meeting agendas, and anticipate and resolve problems. In the absence of a permanent rector the Senior Warden, in consultation with the Bishop, ensures the church is provisioned for worship and facilitates day-to-day operations.

The Junior Warden, also known as the People’s Warden, serves as the representative of the congregation to the Parish Council and to the Rector. They are the congregation's designated point of contact to offer feedback, questions, and concerns to Parish Council. They also lead initiatives to encourage and facilitate interactions between the Council and the congregation. Parish Council meeting minutes are available to members by request from the Junior Warden.
